Falmouth Police report best turnout yet for Prescription Drug Takeback Day

FALMOUTH – Gosnold on Cape Cod, the Falmouth Prevention Partnership and the Falmouth Police Department teamed up on April 30 to sponsor the 11th Prescription Drug Take Back Day. This nationwide event encourages the proper disposal of prescription drug in an effort to prevent accidental poisoning, overdose and abuse; and helps keep drugs out of the water supply.

Over 130 people took part in the event with 630 pounds collected since the last Take Back event in September—a 34% increase.

While Prescription Drug Take Back Day happens twice a year, every town on Cape Cod now has a medication disposal kiosk that is open 24/7 at the local police station. Residents are encouraged to drop off unwanted medication throughout the year, not just on Prescription Drug Take Back days.
