Falmouth Police seeking suspect after seizure of assault rifle and shotgun

FALMOUTH – Falmouth Police are looking for a man wanted in connection with the discovery of an illegal AR-15 style assault rifle and a shotgun.

With assistance from the Upper Cape Special Response Team, Falmouth officers served a search warrant at a home on Pitch Pine Lane at 7:12 p.m. on Wednesday.

The incident was part of an ongoing investigation, which started with a tip that the suspect, identified as Jeffrey “Keyth” Sylvia, 34, was in possession of an assault weapon (rifle) and a sawed-off shotgun.

Investigators searched the property, located, and seized an AR-15 style Assault Weapon (rifle) and a Remington 870 Pistol-Grip Pump Action Shotgun, including 500 rounds of AR-15 ammunition, over 50 shells of shotgun ammunition, and four AR-15 high-capacity magazines.

It was determined that the shotgun was not considered a sawed-off shotgun, nonetheless Sylvia was not properly licensed to be in possession of the rifle, shotgun, ammunition, or magazines.

He’s described as a white male, 5 feet 6 inches, 140 pounds, thin build, with short gray/black hair and blue eyes.

The Upper Cape Special Response Team consists of police officers from the Falmouth Police Department, Mashpee Police Department, and the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office.

Please contact the Falmouth Police at 774-255-4527 with any information on the location of Keyth Sylvia.
