Falmouth Police to participate in ‘Hidden in Plain Sight’ drug awareness program

FALMOUTH – The Opioid Coalition of Falmouth is hosting a drug and alcohol awareness presentation for parents of teens and pre-teens on Sunday, April 2.

The presentation is a free event for parents and caregivers of children, particularly preteens and teenagers. It begins at 11 a.m. at the Sea Crest Resort.

It is not intended for children under the age of 18.

The event will include: Hidden in Plain Sight This is an awareness program for parents and guardians featuring an exhibit where adults are encouraged to explore and interact with a display designed to resemble a teenager’s bedroom.

Throughout the exhibit are items that may indicate that a teenager may be involved in some high-risk behavior, such as substance abuse, underage drinking, eating disorders, sexual activity, and other dangers.

Falmouth Police Department will be available to answer questions. The keynote speaker is Kevin P. Hill, M.D., M.H.S.

Dr. Hill is an addiction psychiatrist and the Director of the Substance Abuse Consultation Service at McLean Hospital’s Division of Alcohol and Drug Abuse.

He is also an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.

Local Organizations and Experts will be present and available to share information and answer questions before and after Dr. Hill’s presentation.
