Falmouth Police warn of phony Early Education and Care investigator

FALMOUTH
– The Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) has received several reports of a man who has gone to family child care homes in the Falmouth area posing as an EEC licensor or investigator in an attempt to gain access to the home.

Please be advised that EEC licensors and investigators will always present official state photo identification when visiting any home or program. In addition, EEC staff will not visit a program unannounced on a Saturday or Sunday.

If an individual arrives at your program stating that they are from the Department of Early Education and Care, please ask for their name and to see their official photo identification. This identification will bear the individual’s name, photo, and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ state seal. EEC staff will never use a driver’s license as identification.

If the person does not present this identification, please do not allow the person into your home or the program. Please immediately contact the Department of Early Education and Care by calling 617-988-6600, and notify the operator that you had a suspicious visitor to your home or program who posed as a member of EEC staff. In addition, you should notify the Falmouth Police Department by calling 774-255-4527.
