Fire breaks out at Dennis residence


DENNIS – Dennis Fire reports that At 9:34 PM Thursday evening, they responded to a reported structure fire at 147 Nobscussett Road. When Dennis Fire units arrived, they found heavy smoke rolling out of the back of the single-story wood frame style dwelling. The building was occupied at the time of the fire. The owners stated they heard a “some popping sounds along with flickering lights then smelled smoke”. All occupants and pets got out safely.

Firefighters stretched two handlines to extinguish the fire that was located in the basement. Electric fans were used to remove the heat and smoke out of the building.

A working fire assignment was called for which summonsed assistance from Yarmouth, Brewster Barnstable and Harwich fire departments to the scene or covering Dennis stations. Dennis police assisted with traffic control.

The structure suffered damage to the contents in the basement and first floor.The cause of the fire is under investigation with all indicators pointing to an electrical issue. There were no reported injuries to firefighters.
