FALMOUTH – On Saturday evening at approximately 9:34 PM. Falmouth Fire-Rescue was dispatched to a structure fire at the Boatyard Condos on Keel De Sac off Falmouth Heights Road. The shift commander (Car 28) arrived to heavy smoke and fire showing from second floor a large 2.5 story occupied multi unit condo. A 2nd alarm was quickly struck, bring all remaining Falmouth units as well as an Engine from the Town of Mashpee to the scene. An aggressive interior attack was mounted,and crews discovered rapidly extending fire in numerous concealed spaces in 2 units. Falmouth and Mashpee crews were able to gain access, and utilizing numerous hand lines the fire was extinguished in about 45 minutes. 1 firefighter suffered a minor injury. Station coverage was provided by the Bourne, Cotuit and Joint Base Cape Cod Fire Departments. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The Red Cross is providing temporary shelter for displaced residents.
