MASHPEE – Fire broke out at a motel in Mashpee just after 5 PM Monday. Smoke was showing from a crawl space at the Santuit Inn at 6 Falmouth Road (Route 28) when officials arrived. The building was evacuated safely. Firefighters had difficulty accessing the area where the fire was. Crews were to get the situation under control with damage confined to the crawl space. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
