Fire heavily damages Yarmouth home

– From Yarmouth Fire: “At approximately 5:20 AM Yarmouth Fire Department responded to a 911 call for a structure fire at 70 Camp Street in West Yarmouth.

First crew on location reported heavy fire. Hyannis FD responded automatically per mutual aid agreement and assisted YFD with their efforts. The bulk of the fire was quickly knocked down with large hand-lines from the first in YFD Engine. Extensive interior overhaul operations to fully extinguish the fire.

Fire was mostly confined to the exterior front of the single family, two story home, but all of the windows failed sending heavy heat and smoke throughout the home. The home sustained major damage.

A family cat was given oxygen from EMTs and seemed to be doing good.

Yarmouth Police assisted by securing the scene and helping with the investigation. Fire is under investigation at this time.

Other than smoke inhalation for the mentioned cat there were no other injuries.

American Red Cross is assisting family members.

Surrounding town fire departments provided station coverage.”
