Updated: Fire rages through camper, sets off propane tank in Truro; Similar fire at same campground in 2009

TRURO – Firefighters responded to a raging camper fire about 4 AM Wednesday. The fire broke out at the Adventure Bound campground at 46 Highland Road. A propane tank reportedly vented adding fuel to the fire. No injuries were reported. Mutual aid from Provincetown, Wellfleet and Eastham responded to the scene.

An eerily similar fire broke out at the same campground on August 11th, 2009. CWN file photo.

It took a bit but CWN has found coverage in our archives of a similar blaze at the same campground on August 11th, 2009 when CWN reported: “A spectacular fire gutted a garage type structure at the Adventure Bound Campground in Truro just before midnight. The building at the Highland Road facility also known as the North Truro Camping Area was fully involved when firefighters arrived. Reports say a golf cart may have first caught fire inside the building. Firefighters were hampered in their efforts to control the fire by several propane cannisters in the building which exploded. There were no hydrants nearby so water had to be shuttled in by tanker. Police kept anxious campers back a safe distance because of the explosions. Provincetown and Wellfleet firefighters assisted at the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.”
