Five arrested in separate disturbances over the weekend in Wareham

WAREHAM – Wareham Police report that over the weekend (June 9th and 10th), they responded to several disturbances that resulted in arrests.

Shawn Raymond

On Saturday about 4 PM, Ofc. Blaise Lalli and Det. Dean Decas responded to the area of Plymouth Avenue for a report of a fight. At the scene, it was determined that Shawn Raymond, 43, of East Wareham had been involved in an altercation with another male. During the scuffle, Raymond was alleged to have struck the other male with his hands, kicked him, and threw a rock at his back. Wareham EMS was summoned to the scene however no one was transported from the scene. Raymond was charged with assault and battery and assault and battery with a deadly weapon (2 counts).

Ellery Willis III

On Sunday at about 1:50 AM, Wareham Police received a call about a suspicious car on Glen Charlie Road with a male occupant possibly being passed out. Ofcs. Stephen Harrison and Christopher Corner responded and located a male identified as Ellery Wilis III, 26, of East Wareham sitting on the side of the road, however there was no vehicle. As the officers spoke to Willis, he began to yell, slurring his words, and he then struck Ofc. Corner in the face. A violent struggle ensued, and Willis began wildly throwing his elbows back toward the officers, kicking his and swinging his body back and forth in an attempt to escape. A Taser was deployed and Willis was subdued, although when being brought to the police car, he dropped to his knees forcing the officers to carry him. Ofc. Harrison noted in his report that traffic in the area was forced to stop or go into the oncoming lane because of the struggle. Willis was transported to police headquarters for processing on charges of disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, assault and battery on a police officer and resisting arrest. He was due to be arraigned in Wareham District Court on Monday. Neither officer was injured during the melee.

Christopher J. Vanbeeck

At about 8 AM Sunday, Ofcs. Calib LaRue and Ryan Turner responded to Tobey Hospital in the emergency room for a reported disturbance. Arriving on location. Christopher J. Vanbeeck, 40, of Buzzards Bay was yelling, swearing, and refusing to calm down at the request of the officers. He was arrested for disorderly conduct, and disturbing the peace.

At about 9:50 AM, officers were dispatched for a reported disturbance on Parker Drive involving a machete. While responding to the call, officers received updated information that a vehicle involved fled the scene. Ofc. John Iacobucci noticed the vehicle at the corner of Cromessett Road and Marion Road and spoke with the occupants. As a result of the investigation, a passenger in the car Terrence Jacintho, 26, of Wareham was arrested on an unrelated warrant. Sgt. Walter Correia assisted and the original call about the machete remains under investigation.

Finally, at about 10:15 AM, Ofcs. Nate Aronsen, Charles Pillsbury, and Blaise Lalli responded to the area of Fearing Street on a report of two males yelling at each other. At the scene, officers encountered a male who was immediately argumentative and flailing his arms around in a violent manner. The male, identified as Jeremy McKay, 27, of East Wareham, began scuffling with officers and was placed under arrest. After arriving at the station, McKay again became unruly before being placed in a holding cell. He was charged with disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, interfering with an officer, and resisting arrest.
