WEST YARMOUTH – The Yarmouth Police Department reports that on Monday at approximately 7:00 p.m. officers responded to 26 Marigold Road in West Yarmouth to serve a Protective Order against Christopher Barrie at the request of his mother.  The Yarmouth Police Department had responded numerous times to the same residence in the past relating to conflicts between Barrie’s mother and his friends.

Upon arrival at the residence, officers were informed that Christopher was not home. His mother reported numerous ongoing problems with her son that caused her to seek the Protective Order. According to police, the issues involved Barrie inviting over multiple friends who sleep and stay in the home at all hours of the day and night. Reportedly, when the mother confronted Barrie and his friends they threatened her.  She felt as though her house is being overrun and she had no control.  The mother and Yarmouth Police have worked together in the past and issued Trespass Orders. Often times, the youths would reportedly return, sneaking in through windows when the mother was sleeping or out of the house.

At approximately 8:52 p.m., Monday, Yarmouth officers returned to 26 Marigold Road based on a call from his mother. Yarmouth Police dispatchers advised the officers that Christopher was home with friends and that his mother had left and was calling police from a neighbor’s house.

Yarmouth officers made contact with Barrie and several others. People who were trespassing at the home ran off into the neighborhood. A Yarmouth Police Department K9 unit immediately confronted two of them and they were both detained. Others subjects were loose on foot in the neighborhood. One of them came up upon the K9 unit and began apparently videotaping with his cell phone. He held it up at the officer and while confronting, antagonizing and provoking the officer and his police dog by using profanities, making threats and yelling at them.

Additional Yarmouth police officers responded and confronted four males: some of whom were yelling and swearing in an aggressive manner. Additional Yarmouth officers responded as well as members of the Barnstable Police Department and Massachusetts State Police.

Christopher Barrie continued to be uncooperative and resisted being placed in handcuffs. Barrie’s fists were clenched and he appeared to be extremely agitated, police say.  He began throwing punches and was using profanity, threatening police with gang references and referencing the “Nauti Block.” His resistance was overcome and he was placed under arrest.

A juvenile female also arrived at the scene and began interfering. She was warned to stop and refused and was subsequently placed in custody.

Five subjects were arrested and transported to Yarmouth Police Department Headquarters. The juveniles were transported to a facility off-Cape.

All five will be arraigned in the Barnstable District Adult and Juvenile Courts today. Christopher Barrie, 18, of West Yarmouth (pictured at left above), was charged with assault and battery on a police officer, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Isaiah M. Starling, 18, of Mashpee (pictured at right above), was charged with trespass.

A juvenile female, 16, was charged with obstructing justice, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. A juvenile male, 17, was charged with disorderly conduct and another juvenile male, 16, was charged with disorderly conduct and trespass.

The names of the juveniles involved are being held.
