…FLASH FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM EDT THURSDAY…

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* Portions of Massachusetts and Rhode Island, including the following areas, in Massachusetts, Barnstable, Bristol, Essex,Middlesex, Norfolk, Plymouth, Suffolk, and Worcester. In Rhode Island, Bristol, Kent, Newport, Providence, and Washington.

* Until 6 AM EDT Thursday

* Periods of showers and embedded thunderstorms are expected tonight with pockets of localized torrential rainfall. Hourly rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour will be possible for a time with the strongest storms, which may lead to localized flash flooding if storms train over the same areas.

* The main concern is for localized urban flash flooding. While this is possible across the entire watch area, the highest risk appears to be across Rhode Island and Southeast Massachusetts.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
