Former Yarmouth Police Sgt. remembered by colleagues

YARMOUTH – Yarmouth Police are remembering a former member of the department who passed away late last month at the age of 85.

Sgt. Albert Watson Sr. also served as a United States Marine.

Members of the Yarmouth Police Department and the Cape Cod Regional Law Enforcement Council Motor Officer Unit will escort Watson to his final resting place on May 23, 2018 at 1PM at Bourne National Cemetery.

According to his obituary, Watson was the husband of Verna Watson, to whom he was married for 54 years. He was an Eastham native.

He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. After returning home, he joined the Orleans Police Department and the Massachusetts National Guard.

In 1964, he joined the Yarmouth Police Department. He moved to Middlebury, VT in 1980 and served as Chief of Police until 1991.

His career in law enforcement spanned more than five decades.
