Four arrested in recent incidents in Wareham

WAREHAM – On Saturday, June 23 at about 1130 pm, Wareham Police Officers Calib Larue and Stephen Harrison responded for a report of a vehicle that had just struck a telephone pole by the Cranberry Plaza, and was now driving down Depot Street toward Great Neck Road. While the officers were checking the area they came upon the vehicle in question and determined it had been involved in yet another accident, with the front passenger tire completely off of the car. There were no injuries however the operator, Joseph Brooks, 35, of Yarmouth Port was placed under arrest for operating under the influence, 2nd offense and operating with a suspended license.

On Sunday, June 24, at about 1230 am, Officer Steven Soqui arrested Anthony Bullock, 48, of Onset for disturbing the peace and possession of a class B substance, in the Onset center near Stephen’s Lounge. The arrest followed a disturbance in which several males fled from the area, however Bullock refused to cooperate. While being booked at the police station Officer Aaron Pacheco discovered a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine on Bullock. Mr. Bullock is scheduled to be arraigned in Wareham District Court on Monday.

Later, at about 0115, officers returned to the Onset area for another disturbance this time involving Joel Michelsen, 29, of Onset. Mr. Michelsen, was walking down the street with a friend waving his arms around aggressively and yelling obscenities. When approached by officers he became even more aggressive and officers struggled to place him in custody. Off. Soqui with assistance from Officer Ryan Gomes was able to handcuff the male, however when being placed in the cruiser, he tried to break free and kicked Off. Soqui. At the police station Mr. Michelsen continued to be unruly and hostile. He is being charged with assault and battery on a police officer, disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace and resisting arrest. He is due to be arraigned at Wareham District Court on Monday.

On Monday, June 25, at about 1:50 am, Sgt. Daniel Henderson observed a vehicle pulling out of the cranberry bogs on Hathaway Street. Sgt. Henderson stopped the vehicle on Dinah’s Way, as the bog area is posted, no trespassing. As a result of the stop, Matthew Whitney, 29, of Carver was placed in custody for operating after suspension of his driver’s license and also two active default warrants for his arrest. He was order held without bail pending an appearance in Wareham District Court on Monday.
