WAREHAM – From Wareham Police: On Saturday, November 16, at 5:42 p.m., Wareham Police received information that a male with multiple warrants was at an address on Maple Springs Road. One of the warrants was for an armed robbery in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. That particular warrant had a caution note indicating that the suspect should be considered armed and dangerous. In addition, there were two drug warrants from Massachusetts as well. The wanted man was identified as Erik Reardon, 37, of Brighton, MA.
Officers Michael Phinney, James White, and Lorenzo Grosso responded to the address. While the officers set up outside the home, Mr. Reardon attempted to go out of a rear slider but saw Officer White there. Officer White yelled for the suspect to stop but he rushed to the front door. On the front steps he charged at Officer Phinney partially knocking him backwards. Both Officers Grosso and Phinney grabbed onto Mr. Reardon, and ordered him to get down. Mr. Reardon tried to pull both officers down the stairs and violently resisted arrest. Officer White used his Taser on the suspect, and he went to the ground continuing to fight officer’s efforts to arrest him. After a second application of the Taser, Reardon was placed in handcuffs.

A female friend of Mr. Reardon was sitting in a car near the house. Officers Phinney and White began to walk to her; however she began moving the car in their direction. The officers yelled for her to stop, but instead she sped up forcing both officers to jump out of the way. Officer Phinney was struck by the driver’s side mirror as the car sped away. Officers White and Grosso pursued the car in their cruisers and were able to stop her car just before the dead end of Maple Springs Road. The female was also placed under arrest. She was identified as Kimberly Ahearn, 39, of Methuen MA. Officer Phinney did not seek any medical treatment.
Both individuals were transported back to Wareham Police headquarters where they were processed and held. While booking Ms. Ahearn, officers discovered her to be in illegal possession of multiple pills.
Erik Reardon is charged with being a fugitive from justice on the Rhode Island warrant, assault and battery on a police officer, and resisting arrest, as well as the two warrants from South Boston District Court.
Kimberly Ahearn is charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault with a dangerous weapon, two counts of possession of a Class “B” drug, and two counts of possession of a Class “E” drug.
Acting Chief John Walcek said, “I personally spoke with a detective from the Pawtucket Police Department and he was very appreciative that this suspect was apprehended.” He added, “Once again Wareham officers put themselves in harm’s way to apprehend a dangerous fugitive. Police work can be colossally unpredictable; rest assured that your Wareham officers are up for the challenges they face.”
