Gannon-Nero boat regifted to Yarmouth Police Foundation

YARMOUTH – From Yarmouth Police: “Longmeadow resident Jim Russell has re-gifted the beautiful “Gannon Nero” model boat that he paid $2,000 for back to the Yarmouth Police Foundation in hope someone will re-purchase and raise additional funds and support for the Sergeant Sean M. Gannon Police K9 Training Center.

This very special memento was designed by Springfield artist Amber Lemon to display fishing lures made in an Indian Orchard plant, all to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cape Cod in honor of fallen Yarmouth Police Sergeant Sean M. Gannon was a devoted Big Brother for the past three years to his Little Brother Rylee.

Mr. Russell was the highest bidder at the June 28th “Canal Cruise for Gannon” which raised $25,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cape Cod.  Two dozen highly revered “Al Gags Fishing Lures” that were handmade by Al Gagliarducci and placed in the bottom of the boat brought in $500.

The three foot long model is made from solid wood and resembles a tug with elements of a lobster boat and plenty of below deck storage for fishing lures.

The name “Gannon Nero” refers to fallen Sergeant Gannon and his K9 partner Nero.  Nero was shot and critically wounded but has survived and made a miraculous full recovery.

The boat registration is YPD-5992 which is in honor of Sergeant Gannon’s badge number.

Anyone who would like to purchase this very special boat may do so by reaching directly out to President Bruce Wilson of the Yarmouth Police Foundation by emailing him at [email protected] or visiting them on Yarmouth Police Foundation Facebook or their website at www.yarmouthpolicefoundation.org

THANK YOU JIM RUSSELL FROM ALL OF US AT THE YPD!!!
