YARMOUTH – Yarmouth firefighters were called out early Tuesday morning to put out a grill fire that extended to the exterior of a home.
Captain Jerry Walsh said they responded to the Mynelle Road location at 1 a.m. following a 9-1-1 call by the homeowners.
Walsh said the fire had spread from the grill to an outside wall and a portion of the roof by the time they arrived.
The flames were quickly extinguished and there were no injuries. Mutual aid for station coverage was called in from Hyannis, Dennis, Barnstable and Brewster.
Walsh said the damage was confined to the outside and the homeowners were allowed to return after the fire was out.
He said the blaze is a safety reminder about keeping grills too close to structures.
