WELLFLEET – On Friday, the Wellfleet Police Department and Animal Control were called to the Lieutenant Island bridge for a Harp seal in the middle of the road. Upon arrival, officials determined the seal was healthy and just seeking the warmth of the sunshine. The International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) Marine Rescue team was notified and promptly responded. Due to the potential hazard of traffic, IFAW experts relocated the seal to a safer location. If you come across marine life who you believe may be in a potentially dangerous situation please don’t hesitate to call either your local police department or IFAW at 508-743-9548.
