New details: Hazmat crews called to Sandwich for fuel spill from sunken vessel at marina


SANDWICH
– Hazardous Materials technicians were called to Sandwich around 8 AM Thursday. According to reports, a vessel spilled about 40 gallons of diesel fuel at the Sandwich Marina. The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) was also called.

Update: Photos posted by a local salvage company (below) confirm the fuel spill occurred after a 30-foot lobster boat sank at the marina. The vessel was refloated using airbags.
