SOUTH WELLFLEET – On Saturday at approximately 5:03 AM, The Wellfleet Police Department responded to a report of a head on motor vehicle crash on Route 6 near Fresh Brook Lane. Upon arrival, officers observed two vehicles, a 2015 Jeep Patriot operated by a 22-year-old female operator, who was later identified as Camille Rogers from Ithaca, NY. The second vehicle, a 2007 Kia Optima, operated by a 26-year-old male operator, who was later identified as Daniel Mclaughlin of Falmouth. The Wellfleet and Eastham Fire Departments arrived on location and began treating victims. Both victims were transported to Cape Cod Hospital with injuries that were serious but not-life-threatening. Mclaughlin was later transported to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.
Route 6 remained open during the investigation and traffic was heavy in the area.
The cause of the accident is currently under investigation by the Wellfleet Police Department and members of the Cape Cod Regional Law Enforcement Crash Reconstruction Team.
