Home Base No Shave Raises over $289,000 to help veterans

YARMOUTH – During the past month, Police Officers from all over Massachusetts each pledged $100 to forgo shaving and grooming in order to evoke conversation, raise awareness, and break the stigma associated with post-traumatic stress (PTS) and other invisible wounds of war.

Yarmouth Police Officers are normally not allowed to grow a beard but were proud to participate again this year during the Home Base No Shave campaign to support Veterans from all over our nation.

Founded and championed by MBTA Transit Police/Boston Gang Unit Detective Kurt Power, U.S. Army Veteran, Purple Heart recipient and proud graduate of Home Base, the 5th Annual Home Base No Shave campaign raises awareness and funds for the critical, life-saving care that Home Base provides to Veterans and their Families to heal from the invisible wounds, such as post-traumatic stress and traumatic brain injury.

The annual campaign concluded today with a special ceremony at historic Fenway Park in Boston.

The following Yarmouth Police Officers participated in the campaign and the YPD was able to meet our goal and raise $1,500 to support our brave Veterans.
