FALMOUTH – Saturday evening at approximately 6:15 PM, Falmouth Fire units were dispatched to a building fire at 83 Spectacle Pond Road in the Hatchville section of town. First arriving units found heavy smoke and fire showing from a 2 1/2 story dwelling. Several hand lines were deployed in an aggressive interior attack. Crews encountered heavy fire on the first floor, and the fire eventually extended into the second floor and attic via concealed wall spaces. A working fire was struck, bringing a Mashpee Engine to the scene, and station coverage from the Bourne and Joint Base Cape Cod FD’s. A Falmouth firefighter was transported by a Bourne ambulance to Falmouth Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. The fire was knocked down in about an hour.
