HYANNIS – Hundreds of people lined Route 132 and other roads as the procession carrying the body of Barnstable Police Sergeant Jason Sturgis made its way from the medical examiner’s office in Boston to the Doane, Beale & Ames funeral home. Dozens of police, fire and DPW vehicles lined the route. It was announced Sunday that Sgt. Sturgis, a 19-year veteran of the Barnstable Police Department died suddenly and unexpectedly while off duty.
