Husband and wife charged with dealing fentanyl

YARMOUTH – Yarmouth Police report that on Wednesday at approximately 9:00 AM, led by Yarmouth Police Drug Enforcement Detective Scott Lundegren, members of the Yarmouth Police Department Detective Division, Proactive Anti-Crime Unit (PACU),and Barnstable Police Department Detectives executed a search warrant at the residence located at 230 Gosnold Street Unit M8, in Hyannis.

After securing John Benevides and his wife (identified as Ashley Benevides (Boucher), a search was conducted of the residence located at 230 Gosnold Street Unit M8.

Police Officers recovered several knotted baggies containing an off white powder (fentanyl) along with various pills. Additionally,

Police Officers recovered two bags containing a white powder (cocaine). Further recovered from the home were packaging materials (plastic baggies), multiple digital scales and a large amount of US Currency (from the person of John Benevides).

The following items were seized during the execution of the search warrant:
Fentanyl
Cocaine
Crack Cocaine
Suboxone Oral Film
Pills – Clonazepam
Pills – Xanax
Pills – Oxycodone
Boxed Sandwich Baggies
Digital Scale
Cash / US Currency $1,353.00

Cell Phones

John Michael Benevides, 35, of Hyannis, and Ashley Marie Benevides, 29, of Hyannis were both charged with:
Trafficking fentanyl (10 grams or more)
Possession with intent to distribute a Class B substance (cocaine)
Possession with intent to distribute a Class B substance (crack cocaine)
Possession with intent to distribute a Class B substance (suboxone)
Possession with intent to distribute a Class B substance (oxycodone)
Possession with intent to distribute a Class B substance (Clonazepam)
Possession with intent to distribute a Class B substance  (Xanax)
Conspiracy to violate the controlled substance act

 

Both were transported to Yarmouth Police Department Headquarters where they were booked and processed.

The Bail Commissioner set bail at $30,000 on Mr. Benevides—who was out on bail pending trial for a previous Yarmouth Police Department Fentanyl trafficking arrest— and $20,000 on Mrs. Benevides.

Both were held overnight and transported to the Barnstable District Court Thursday morning for arraignment.
