HYANNIS – From Hyannis Firefighters: Hyannis Fire Marine was underway Friday evening to assist a vessel in distress in the vicinity of Horseshoe Shoal in Nantucket Sound. USCG Woods Hole also responded with a cutter and small boat.
Update: A 50′ fishing vessel ran a ground with two souls on board. No reported injuries and the vessel was not currently taking on water. Marine 1 was able to assist the stranded vessel in finding deeper waters. Once the tide came in enough the stranded vessel was able to power itself off of the sand bar in reverse.
The USCG assisted in guiding the fishing vessel to deeper waters as the crew checked for any damages.
