UPDATED: Hyannis Fire, Coast Guard respond to vessel leaking fuel

HYANNIS – Hyannis Firefighters and Coast Guard responded to a scene off Bayshore Drive just outside Hyannis Harbor early Thursdwy adyernoon. A large catamaran was reportedly leaking fuel. Crews deployed containment booms around the spill.

Hyannis Firefighters posted that earlier today, crews responded to Hyannis Harbor for a report from the Harbormaster of a vessel leaking fluid. Upon arrival the Shift Commander confirmed that there was some type of petroleum based fluid coming from the 42’ vessel that was docked. HyFD Marine 2 deployed containment booms supplied from COMM Fire/Rescue around the slick to prevent further spread. The US Coast Guard and Mass DEP were also on location and have worked a spill mitigation plan as well as removal of the vessel with the owner’s representative.
