Increased security at BWB school after possible drug related medical incident Friday

WEST BARNSTABLE – At approximately 4:33 pm on Friday, 12/13, the Barnstable Police Department responded to the Barnstable-West Barnstable Elementary School for a 911 call reporting an unresponsive male staff member near the loading dock area of the school. Responding officers continued life saving measures that were begun by school staff until members of the Barnstable Fire Department arrived and transported the man to Cape Cod Hospital for treatment.

A substance believed to possibly be drugs was recovered at the scene by officers and has been sent for further analysis. Over the weekend the Barnstable Police K9 Unit, School Resource Officers, and School staff conducted additional checks of the school to help provide for the safety of students and staff returning on Monday. This incident is being investigated by Barnstable Police Detectives and anyone with additional information can reach the Detective Unit at 508-778-3820.
