TISBURY – From Tisbury Police: On Saturday September 1st at approximately 1 AM, Tisbury Police, EMS and Fire units responded to the dock area behind the Tisbury Shell for a report of a 55ft vessel that was engulfed in smoke. Police units arrived on scene first and assisted the occupants of the vessel (identified from photos as the Wanderer out of Newport, RI) as well as the occupants of a nearby vessel safely from the area. Tisbury Fire personnel, with the assistance of Oak Bluffs fire, Tisbury Harbormaster and the U.S. Coast Guard assisted in containing the blaze and assisting on scene. Thanks to the quick response of everyone involved no one was injured during this incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation by Tisbury Fire at this time.
