EASTHAM – Four kayakers got into trouble in the strong southwest winds near the Nauset Inlet and had to be rescued by Eastham Fire and Rescue along with Orleans firefighters. The incident started about 6 PM after they left Hemenway Beach in Eastham. The Orleans Harbormaster boat was able to secure the kayaks and Eastham Fire brought the boaters back to the Town Pier at Goose Hummock in Orleans. They were evaluated for mild hypothermia from the cold wind and waves, but declined any medical assistance.
