BOURNE
– Bourne Police report that on Tuesday morning, they were dispatched to a report of a copper theft from the IGS Solar Farm being constructed off MacArthur Boulevard. Officers were advised that several thousand feet of copper cable had been removed from the property. Detective investigated and zeroed in on several suspects. This led them to Taunton where they teamed up with detectives there.

The investigation brought them to a scrap yard in Taunton where detectives confirmed some of the copper material had been sold as scrap earlier in the day. The sales receipts matched with the name of one of the suspects. That same day, detectives located the suspect in Taunton, obtained a full confession of the theft and found the majority of the copper that had been stolen. The copper was transported to the Bourne Police Department and returned to the rightful owner. The suspect (who was not identified) was taken into custody, transported to the Bourne Police station pending arraignment in court Thursday morning.
