Updated: Gusty breezes cause scattered power outages

CAPE COD – Equipment failure possibly due to the gusty winds was apparently to blame for a large power outage late Friday night. 840 customers were out in Orleans, with about 175 each in Brewster and Harwich.

Late Saturday morning, a tree fell across wires in Provincetown sparking a small fire. The incident happened on Bradford Street Extension near West Vine Street. About 415 customers in the west end of town were affected.

Dennis firefighters also responded to a tree that brought down wires in their town and other isolated outages were reported. Eversource technicians were working to restore service.
