Local police departments receive technology grants from the state

CAPE COD – Several local police departments have received state grants for technology grants:

Grants of $20,000 each were awarded to the Barnstable, Dennis, and Yarmouth Police Departments. The funds were included in a recent announcement of Local Law Enforcement Equipment and Technology Grants. These funds will be assigned toward the purchase of one Automatic License Plate Reader (ALPR) for each Town. These ALPRs will help the departments be more effective in locating motor vehicles that have been stolen, are wanted for criminal activity, or are otherwise operating in violation of state law (uninsured/unregistered/etc).

EASTHAM – Friday morning, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety & Security advised the Eastham Police Department that it has been awarded $20,000 in grant funding for improving security related technology within our department. Eastham PD staff applied for funding through the Edward Byrne Memorial Assistance Grant Program last month for the purpose of updating surveillance cameras and electronic access control around our facility. This funding will provide a much-needed improvement to security at the Eastham Police Department at no cost to Eastham Taxpayers. We will implement these improvements over the next few months!
