VIDEO UPDATE: Loon frozen to beach rescued in Yarmouth


YARMOUTH
– On Thursday, a Yarmouth Division of Natural Resources officer responded to Seagull Beach in West Yarmouth for the reported loon frozen to the edge of the beach. The officer arrived and with the help of a concerned citizen located the Loon.

The loon was still alive however was in fact frozen to the ground and unable to free itself. The officer carefully broke away the frozen ground and ice and was able to remove the loon from the ground.

The loon was transported to Cape Wildlife Center to be examined and rehabbed by trained wildlife rehab personnel.

Update: On Friday, Yarmouth DNR picked up a healthy Loon from Cape Wildlife Center after it was successfully rehabilitated by wildlife staff. Yesterday this Loon was rescued after being found frozen to the edge of the beach.

The Loon was transported to Seagull Beach and released back into the wild by a Yarmouth DNR officer.
