WAREHAM – A major gas leak prompted evacuations in Wareham Monday morning. Crews were called to Cranberry Plaza Shopping Center on Cranberry Highway (Routes 6/28) around 8:30 a.m. The area including a Super Stop & Shop and the Hawthorn Kindey Center was evacuated. Several ambulances including two from Bourne were called to the scene to assist with the outpatients from the kidney center. National Grid was called to shut off the gas. A Bourne engine also covered the Onset Fire Station during the incident.
