Man accused of sexual assault of a child in Yarmouth

YARMOUTH – From Yarmouth Police: In mid-September 2018, the Yarmouth Police Department received information from the Harwich Police Department that sexual assaults of a child had occurred in the town of Yarmouth in 2013 and 2014.

Yarmouth Police Detectives conducted an investigation with the assistance of special investigators of the Cape and Islands Children’s Cove Child Advocacy Center which led to the issuance of an arrest warrant in mid-October.

On Tuesday, October 18, 2018 at 7PM, Yarmouth Police Department Patrol Officers tracked down and arrested the suspect at his place of employment in South Yarmouth.

The suspect Brandon M. Bamford, 35, of Dennis was processed at Yarmouth Police Department Headquarters and held overnight on $540.00 cash bail. Bamford was charged with warrant for rape of a child, and indecent assault and battery on a person under 14.

On Friday, October 19, 2018 the suspect was transported to the Barnstable District Court for arraignment and is currently being held in custody on $10,000 cash bail.
