Man airlifted with severe leg trauma from chainsaw accident in Falmouth


FALMOUTH
– Falmouth Police report that a 46-year-old tree worker suffered a serious injury to his leg while cutting a tree in Woods Hole.

First responders received a call Wednesday at 10:09 AM for a seriously injured man at the Treetops Condominium complex on Woods Hole Road. The caller stated that the man had cut his leg with a chainsaw.

Officer James Rogers was the first officer on-scene. He immediately administrated first aid to stop the bleeding, including a tourniquet. Falmouth Fire & Rescue arrived shortly thereafter and further treated the victim.

Witnesses said, a worker from Casey Tree was cutting a tree when the chainsaw he was using caught his clothing and was pulled into the upper portion of his right leg.

The injury was considered life threatening. As a result, Falmouth Fire & Rescue transported the victim to the Falmouth Hospital Heliport where he was flown by medical flight to Providence Hospital.
