Man arrested for OUI 3rd offense and operating without interlock device

YARMOUTHFrom Yarmouth Police: On Sunday, February 17, 2019 at approximately 2AM, Yarmouth Police Department Patrol Officer Ryan Golden stopped a 2001 Blue in color Ford F-150 bearing Massachusetts registration 9EKA90 for erratic operation on Route 28 in West Yarmouth.

When asked for his license, the operator appeared extremely nervous as he and his passenger provided a name but no license. Patrol Officer Matthew Sheehan arrived as back up.

Investigation revealed that the operator and passenger lied to the Officers about the Operator’s true name.

When confronted, he finally provided his real name which was Daniel Matthew Hayden, 38, of West Yarmouth.

A series of Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were given and failed.

Hayden was was placed under arrest and processed at YPD Headquarters.

It was later determined that the operator was out on parole due to previous OUI convictions.

Hayden was charged with operating under the influence of liquor (3rd offense), operating negligently to endanger, marked lanes violation, failing to identify self to a police officer, operating contrary to license restriction, and operating without an interlock device.

He refused to submit to the breath test and his license was immediately suspended.

Bail was set at $5,000.

Operator scheduled for arraignment today in the Barnstable District Court.
