Man arrested in apparent case of sidewalk road rage in Hyannis

Bryan Parks

HYANNIS – Barnstable Police arrested a Hyannis man after a road rage incident involving a knife and a hammer. At 12:55 PM on Friday, a caller notified the police of an altercation involving 31-year-old Bryan Parks of Hyannis and a 30-year-old man from Mashpee. Parks was crossing South Street in a designated crosswalk when a pick-up truck driven by the Mashpee man approached him. Parks did not believe the truck was going to yield, so he threw a metal object at the truck, striking it and causing damage. The operator of the truck exited with a hammer as Parks drew a spring assisted knife from his person. A verbal confrontation ensued, and Parks threw the knife at the truck, missing it.

Parks was placed under arrest and booked at the Barnstable Police Department for Assault & Battery with a Dangerous Weapon (knife), Injury to Real or Personal Property, and Carrying A Dangerous Weapon (spring assisted knife). He was then transported to Barnstable District Court.
