WAREHAM – From Wareham Police: On Wednesday, January 16, Baynes Electric reported to Wareham Police that in early January they took a phone order from a male for over $6,000 in electrical supplies. A male arrived the next day and picked up the order. Several days later Baynes received a call from a woman from California saying she did not authorize the purchase. The same male called back on Wednesday and again made another order of over $6,000 worth of supplies, and said he would be back to pick up the items early Thursday morning. The male in question made the purchase with a different credit card number.
Officer Steven Joy, who took the initial report, alerted members of the Detective division of the situation. Wareham Police detectives made a plan to stakeout the business starting at 5:00 a.m. in an effort to apprehend the male. At about 8:45 a.m. a male arrived to pick up the order in a truck with Rhode Island license plates. As the suspect was loading his vehicle he was approached by the detectives and placed under arrest. Aldrin Diaz, 49, of Providence Rhode Island was transported to police headquarters where he was booked before being brought to Wareham District Court. Diaz is charged with receiving stolen property over $1,200 and attempt to commit a crime. An active investigation continues by detectives in this case
