Man charged with shellfishing in contaminated waters in Falmouth


FALMOUTH
– On Wednesday, Today Falmouth Department of Marine and Environment (MES) initiated an investigation involving a subject who was harvesting contaminated shellfish. After further investigation, and surveillance by Falmouth MES and Massachusetts Environmental Police, the individual was observed digging, mislabeling and selling 1,366 pieces of contaminated shellfish to a Falmouth based wholesale/retail dealer. Carlton Hendricks III was subsequently placed under arrest for the following criminal offenses:
-shellfishing in a contaminated area
-shellfish improperly tagged
-incorrect shellfish labeling
-permit not in possession

The shellfish were seized and subsequently destroyed.
