Man charged with stealing bikes while out on bail for same crime

James Conlon

BOURNE – Bourne Police report that no this is not Deja Vu. James Conlon, 36, Sagamore Beach was arrested Monday evening after allegedly being observed stealing two bicycles from two different properties in the area of Meetinghouse Lane and Old Plymouth Road in Bourne. In one instance, Conlon abandoned the stolen bicycle in the woods when the owner gave chase. In the second instance, it is believed the bicycle was abandoned when it was discovered the bicycle had a flat tire. Conlon was located in the area of the crimes by officers, was positively identified as being the individual who stole both bicycles, and was taken into custody. Both bicycles were located. Conlon is currently being held on bail and is charged with two counts of Larceny Over $250.

At the time of this most recent arrest, Conlon was out on bail after being arrested by the Bourne Police Department on August 29th for multiple charges related to various B&E and Larceny Over $250 charges. That arrest led to the execution of two separate search warrants of Conlon’s residence, during which officers located many other stolen items. These recovered items linked Conlon to B&E’s and Larcenies in both Sandwich and Bourne for which charges are currently pending.

We encourage all Bourne residents to make sure they are securing their vehicles and other belongings and to be observant of any suspicious behavior in their neighborhoods. If you observe any suspicious behavior, or have been the unfortunate victim of a B&E or Larceny, please contact our dispatchers 24/7 at 508-759-4451.
