HARWICH – Friday morning at 10:24 a.m. the Harwich Police and Fire Departments received calls about a male pinned under a motor vehicle in a parking lot behind 546 Route 28, Harwich Port. Animal Control Officer Jack Burns was in the neighboring Municipal Parking Lot and arrived to find a male being pulled out from under the car by a group of citizens who lifted the car off the victim. CPR was started by citizens and then taken over by Officer Burns and Sgt. Adam Hutton.
Harwich Fire arrived and transported the male who was in cardiac arrest to Cape Cod Hospital where he was later flown by Med Fling to a Boston Hospital in critical condition.
As a result of the investigation, it was determined that the scissor jack used to raise the car had been knocked loose, pinning the victim under the car while he attempted to make repairs to the car.
The male victim is a 62 year old male from Harwich Port. His name is not being released at this time.
