Man faces unarmed burglary and drug charges in Falmouth

britoalbertoFALMOUTH – Falmouth Police report that night shift Officers have been extra vigilant in recent weeks due to an increase in thefts of power tools. Early Tuesday morning around 2 a.m. Officer Bryan Hazelton was in the area of a construction site and observed a vehicle operating suspiciously on West Falmouth Highway and Chapoquoit Road. The vehicle, a blue 2005 Jeep Liberty was driving very slowly through the area.

Officer Hazelton attempted to pull behind the vehicle, but it quickly took off. Officer Hazelton was able to locate the vehicle parked at 597 West Falmouth Highway. The operator fled the vehicle and entered a residence in the area, alarming the female occupant.

As a result of a K9 track by Barnstable County Sheriff Department K9 handler Deputy Patrick Martin, the suspect was found hiding in a nearby outside shower stall. Alberto Brito, 34, of Falmouth was arrested and was found to be in possession of approximately 40 grams of cocaine and marijuana packaged for distribution.

He was charged with Trafficking in Cocaine, Possession to Distribute Class D Drugs (marijuana), Motor Vehicle Trespass, Operating with a Revoked License (Subsequent Offense), and Fugitive from Justice (due to the existence of an arrest warrant issued by Rhode Island).
