Man pulled from icy water and facing several charges after Wareham crash

WAREHAM – On Friday at 7:30, Officer Nate Aronson arrested Kenny Hartford, 54, of no certain address on Indian Neck Road. Mr. Hartford was arrested on a warrant and was ordered held without bail pending a court appearance on Monday morning in Wareham District Court.

On Saturday, March 9, at 8:50 p.m., Officer Ryan Turner responded to Cranberry Highway near Robertson’s Auto for a one car motor vehicle accident. Arriving in the area, he found a damaged vehicle blocking the entire east bound lane however no operator could be located. Officers Christopher Corner and James White arrived to assist in looking for the operator of the car, which was registered to a male on Cromesett Road. At about 9:40 p.m. officers were alerted to a male yelling obscenities near Shenanigans Bar, and saw patrons pointing to a marsh area adjacent to the business. Officers were assisted by Wareham Fire and EMS in getting Jason Mackenzie, 43, of Wareham, out of the icy water and transported him to Tobey Hospital for treatment. After investigation, he is suspected of being the operator of the car, and is going to be criminally summoned to court for the following charges.

• Operating under the influence of liquor, (3rd offense).
• Leaving the scene of a property damage accident.
• Negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
• Disorderly conduct.
• Disturbing the peace.

At the same time of this incident, Steven Thompson-Costa, 21, of Wareham, was arrested by Officer Joseph Cardoza on Onset Avenue because of an active warrant.
