DENNIS – State Police followed what was described as an emotionally disturbed person through several towns Thursday evening. It started in Dennis around 5:30 p.m. after reports of a man who may have had a gun. The chase wound down Route 6 westbound. State Troopers deployed tire deflation devices before the Sagamore Bridge taking out the front tires of the pickup truck. The vehicle exited before the bridge at exit 1C and proceeded down Sandwich Road, over the Bourne Bridge onto Route 25 and then I-495. Working with Dennis Police, State Police were able to convince the man to stop by Exit 5 (Route 18) in Middleboro where an ambulance had been called to get him the help he needed. Traffic was shut down for a short time but there were no injuries and no damage to any other vehicles. Further details were not immediately available.
