Man wanted for murder in Brazil arrested on Martha’s Vineyard

OAK BLUFFS – On Thursday, May 3, 2018 U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) contacted the Oak Bluffs Police Department in regards to a Brazilian national, identified as Dorvino Rocha Ribeiro, also known as Luciano Rocha, age 47, who was wanted in Brazil for his involvement in a murder-for-hire incident. ICE Agents developed information that Ribeiro was possibly residing on Martha’s Vineyard.

On Wednesday, May 9, 2018, Oak Bluffs Police observed Ribeiro working on the roof of a residence on Linton Avenue in Oak Bluffs. Oak Bluffs Police contacted ICE to notify them of this information.

Later that day, ICE Agents arrived to Martha’s Vineyard and arrested Ribeiro at the Linton Ave residence without incident. He was transported from the island that afternoon.

The following is a summary of facts from an Interpol report regarding the murder in Brazil: “Dorvino Rocha Ribeiro is accused of being the principal and intermediary of the crime of homicide practiced on the road connecting the District of Santa Luzia to the Municipality of Mantena/ES on 7/14/2017, around 8:00 p.m., where four gunshots were fired, against the person of Ezequias Bezerra Da Silva, in simulation of assault, executed by the Brazilian national Zeliano Militao Da Silva, by means of the promise of payment of R $3,500.00 (Three thousand and five hundred Reals).
