Mashpee Police and Fire Unions to collect toys and food for Boys and Girls Club

Mashpee PoliceMASHPEE – The Mashpee Firefighter and Mashpee Police Unions will be collecting unwrapped toys, nonperishable food, and cash for the third year in a row at the Mashpee Rotary for the Boys & Girls Club of Cape Cod and kids in the community, and for the Food Pantry at Christ the King in Mashpee.

The effort will be going on 24 hours a day, for five days, from 8AM on Wednesday December 7, right through to 2PM on Sunday, December 11!

The public is urged to stop by and say hello to the officers and firefighters, and to donate an unwrapped toy for a child, non-perishable food, or even cash for gift cards for the teens, and help make this the best Christmas ever for the children and families in the community.

The toys will be available for local low income and needy families at the Boys & Girls Club of Cape Cod beginning on Tuesday, December 13 through to  from 10am-1pm.

Please be aware that no toys will be distributed at the fire station or during the toy drive at the rotary, and they will not be given out while the Boys & Girls Club is open for children afterschool. There will be a limit on the number of toys per child.

“We could not believe the generosity of the Mashpee first responders last year when they literally lived at the rotary for an entire week, and to have them out there in the cold for 5 days again this year is just amazing, and so wonderful,” said Ruth Provost, executive director of the Boys & Girls Club.

“There are always tears of joy, and a lot of laughter, when we gave toys to families who would have had a pretty bleak Christmas otherwise.  I cannot even tell you how much it means to them and to their kids.  I want to thank everyone, firefighters, police, and donors, who help to make this kind of miracle for children happen every year.”
