Mashpee Police investigating after car struck by bullet

MASHPEE – Mashpee Police are investigating after a stray bullet apparently struck a car Friday morning.

Police Chief Scott Carline said it was just after 8 a.m. when a vehicle traveling northbound on South Sandwich Road in the area of Grenadier Lane was struck on the driver side rear window by a small caliber bullet.

There were no injuries.

Carline said they are trying to determine if it was a stray bullet possibly fired by someone hunting in the area. He called it an “active and ongoing investigation.”

The Massachusetts Environmental Police and the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office are also involved in the probe.
