MassDot plans Route 6 overnight closures to fix delineators

DENNIS – The Massachusetts Department of Transportation is alerting motorists that Route 6 over night road closures will take place over the next two weeks in Orleans, Brewster, Harwich and Dennis.

Crews will be repairing the damaged or missing median delineators.

The work this week is scheduled to begin on Thursday, January 25, with Route 6 lanes being closed at 8 p.m., January 25, between Exit 11 in Harwich and Exit 12 in Orleans and all lanes in this section reopening at 2:30 a.m., Friday, January 26.

After January 26, subsequent closures of Route 6 between Exits 9 and 10, Exits 10 and 11, or between Exit 12 and the Orleans Rotary will be necessary to continue repairing or replacing median delineators.

All planned closures will occur between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 2:30 a.m. Roadway detour signs will be placed to direct motorists between exits using secondary roadways. Message boards will also be activated in the area to alert motorists in advance of the lane closures.

Emergency Vehicles will be permitted to use Route 6 as needed. Those traveling through the area should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution. The schedule for these operations is weather dependent and subject to change without notice.
