JOINT BASE CAPE COD
– On Saturday afternoon around 4:00 p.m., Troopers from the Bourne Barracks responded to reports of a dirt bike rider that had been involved in a serious crash on Flat Rock Road near the Otis AFB facility. The area described is gated and locked in all access areas.

First to arrive was Trooper Terry Nugent. He located the area described but was stopped by a locked gate, which had to be cut open for access. A friend of the victim guided Trooper Nugent in to his friend. Trooper Nugent assessed the injuries to the victim and determined that due to the injuries, that a medical helicopter should be put on stand-by until evaluated by EMS personnel.

Trooper Nugent then kept the victim immobilized while guiding other responders to the scene, via radio. Once EMS arrived, the victim was placed on a backboard and carried several hundred yards to a waiting Bourne EMS ambulance, where he was transported to Bourne Upper Cape Voc-Tec High School, where Boston Med Flight was waiting.

The victim, a 23-year-old Falmouth man arrived at Rhode Island Hospital in stable condition.
